Today, in the age of
the Seventh Fire, we are all faced with a choice
between two paths: the path of greed, consumption
and overdevelopment leading to environmental
catastrophe OR the path of spirituality and respect
for the earth.
We must all come
together, to choose the right path and be of one
mind, or the Earth cannot survive. How can we
do this?
Create backyard and
container gardens or join a community garden.
Honour the Earth
and our environment. Avoid toxins, plastics,
chemicals, and other products and processes that are
poisoning our bodies, our air, our water, our fellow
critters, and our Earth.
Find your peace
with the Mother Nature. If you open your eyes
and ears you will hear her whispers.
The best place
to seek God is in a garden. You can dig for
Him there. ~ George Bernard Shaw

Now more than ever we
must come together as one. Our economy is
struggling, our way of life is changing. We
must help each other, support each other, and stop
pretending that we don't see or don't hear the
truth.
Most mainstream
media isn't given you the truth. They are
telling you what they want you to hear - buy more,
stimulate the economy, huddle down and stay inside
so you can eat more, consume more, throw away more.
This is the time to
join hands, form communities, support circles, and
other groups that provide soul nourishment... not
emptiness and loneliness.
Connect with other
like-minded individuals.
Help yourself by
helping others. No matter how hard it is for
you, or how little you may have - you have so much
you can give.
Never doubt that a
small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing
that ever has. ~

As a parent, as a
caregiver, as a grandparent or family member you
have a responsibility - a moral and ethical
responsibility to provide the young ones in your
life with hope, love, and a future.
As Chief Seattle said more than 150 years ago:
"Teach your
children what we have taught ours, that the earth is
our mother. Whatever befalls the earth
befalls the sons of the earth.
The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the
earth. Man did not weave the web of life; he
is merely a strand in it. We do not
inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it
from our children."
Keep your home as
toxin-free as possible.
Feed your children
and your family organically grown foods.
Infuse positive
energy into everything you do - from the meals you
make to the way you interact with your children. |
How do you nourish
yourself?
Many of us take classes to
learn a skill or develop ourselves for our
profession.
Many of us work out
and may even do yoga, meditate or practice other
forms of self-enrichment.
Soul nourishment
can also come in the form of having authentic
conversations, standing in your truth, choosing
activities that align with what you believe in.
Eating mindfully
(100 mile diet, supporting local producers and
vendors), making buying decisions based on the
implications your purchase makes (Fair Trade, buying
local), even just how you interact with a family
member or friend can be the difference between
nourishing and starving your soul.
Each choice you
make has consequences. How can you find that
spark and kindle it, grow it, and share your light
with others?
Many candles can
be kindled from one candle without diminishing it.
~
